[INTRODUCING HCMC FOODEX 2026 SILVER SPONSOR] CALIFORNIA WALNUT COMMISSION (CWC)
CALIFORNIA WALNUT COMMISSION (CWC)
The California Walnut Commission (CWC), established in 1987 under California law. CWC is an agency of the State of California that represents the California walnut industry. Funded by mandatory assessments of the growers, the Commission works in concurrence with the Secretary of the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA).
Together with the California Walnut Board (CWB), we represent over 4,000 growers and approximately 72 handlers. California’s fertile valleys produce over 99% of the U.S. supply of English walnuts and account for roughly 50% of the world’s walnut trade.
The CWC’s primary mandates include:
• Export Market Development: Supporting international trade partners through marketing initiatives, market insights, and fostering global export opportunities.
• Health and Nutrition Research: Leading global scientific efforts to explore and communicate the health benefits of walnuts, particularly concerning heart health, cognitive function, and overall wellness.
• Quality and Integrity: Upholding the highest food safety standards and product consistency, ensuring the premium reputation of California walnuts worldwide.
Guided by the motto “So Simple. So Good.”, the CWC is committed to providing the world with the most natural, sustainable, and nutrient-dense walnuts from California’s Central Valle.
