I know that ESXi does, but I don’t want to turn my entire home computer into an ESXi host, nor do I have the money to buy a home server or powerful enough workstation to set this up on. Are there any options that won’t break the bank for home use that will allow me to share my GPU power with my guest VM? Whatever you are trying to do, you can’t do this on the host directly? Any reason you want this at the guest level? Workstation full edition does not have the word player in the title, and supports 3D acceleration.

Setting up a multiboxing system for gaming, and it’s just kind of a “proof of concept” thing. Hosting the secondary account s on VM’s gets around that. And yes, multiboxing is allowed – I have confirmation that it’s not against the ToS. I may have seen that video in the past though – definitely an impressive feat.

I assume you are using some flavor of linux as your host? Open VM preferences and navigate to Display – there check “Accelerate 3D graphics” and select maximum amount of Graphics memory.

Do you mean the “Memory size for this virtual machine”? If so, I set up 8GB. No no, Memory size is a RAM.
In same section on display – at the top you have a checkbox for “Accelerate 3D Graphics” but in this very same window but a little bit more down the screen there should be section for “Graphics Memory”. It may be greyed out for you but its probably because your VM is powered on, simply power it off and you’ll be able to change the values inside.
